Substance Use Disorders
If substance use is affecting your health, relationships, or daily life, you do not have to face it alone. I provide supportive and personalized care with a whole person approach. Substance use disorder is a medical condition and effective treatment is available.
What Is Substance Use Disorder
Substance use disorder is a condition in which repeated use of a substance leads to problems with health, behavior, and daily functioning. Over time, substance use can change the way the brain works and influence motivation, decision making, memory, and self control.
Substance use disorder can involve alcohol, prescription medications, or illicit substances. It can range from mild to severe depending on symptoms and impact.
Common Signs and Symptoms
You may need an evaluation if you notice any of the following:
• Using more of a substance than planned or using it more often
• Wanting to cut back but finding it difficult
• Spending significant time obtaining, using, or recovering from use
• Strong cravings
• Continued use even when it causes problems
• Neglecting work, school, family, or personal responsibilities
• Losing interest in activities you once enjoyed
• Using substances in unsafe situations
• Withdrawal symptoms when trying to stop
• Difficulty controlling use even when you want to
These signs reflect a medical condition and do not mean you are weak. Treatment can help you regain control and stability.
How I Provide Support
Your care begins with a complete evaluation that reviews your substance use history, mental and physical health, daily routines, stressors, relationships, and goals. Together, we develop a plan that fits your needs. This may include:
• Medication management when appropriate
• Therapy based support to explore thoughts, feelings, and triggers
• Development of coping skills and relapse prevention strategies
• Guidance on healthy routines, stress management, and self care
• Support for coexisting mental health concerns
• Regular follow up to monitor progress and adjust treatment when needed
My approach is compassionate and centered on long term healing and recovery.
