OCD
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder

OCD can affect how you think, feel, and function each day. If you are struggling with intrusive thoughts, repetitive behaviors, or anxiety driven rituals, you are not alone. I offer individualized treatment that focuses on understanding your symptoms, reducing distress, and helping you regain control and peace of mind.

What Is OCD

OCD is a mental health condition involving unwanted intrusive thoughts or fears that create anxiety. These thoughts often lead to repetitive behaviors or mental rituals that are performed to reduce discomfort or prevent something bad from happening.

Common examples include:
• Fear of germs or contamination
• Fear of harming yourself or others
• Need for things to be exact or symmetrical
• Intrusive thoughts that feel disturbing or out of character
• Repetitive checking such as doors, locks, stoves, messages, or personal items
• Repetitive cleaning or handwashing
• Repeating actions or thoughts until they feel “right”
• Mental rituals such as counting or reviewing events to feel reassured

OCD can become overwhelming and interfere with relationships, work, school, and day to day functioning. Treatment is effective and can improve quality of life significantly.

Signs and Symptoms of OCD

You may be experiencing OCD if you notice:

• Intrusive thoughts that cause distress or fear
• A strong urge to perform specific actions or thoughts to reduce anxiety
• Difficulty controlling repetitive behaviors
• Excessive checking, cleaning, or organizing
• Avoiding certain situations or triggers
• Spending large amounts of time on rituals or mental reviewing
• Trouble concentrating due to intrusive thoughts
• Impact on sleep, daily routines, or ability to function normally

These symptoms are not character flaws. They are the result of patterns in the brain that can be treated and managed.

How I Provide Support and Treatment

When we begin working together, I start with a thorough evaluation of your symptoms, patterns, triggers, and history. From there, we create a plan tailored to your needs. Treatment may include:
