Children's Mental Health

Children and teens deserve care that recognizes their unique developmental needs and life circumstances. I provide thoughtful, child and family centered mental health support that combines clinical expertise with empathy. My goal is to help young clients and their families navigate challenges, build resilience, and support healthy emotional development.

What Are Children’s Mental Health Concerns

Mental health concerns in children and adolescents can include a wide range of emotional, mood, and behavioral issues. Common challenges include:

• Anxiety disorders which involve persistent or excessive worry, fear, or avoidance
• Attention deficit and hyperactivity concerns involving difficulty with attention, impulsivity, activity level, or organization
• Depression and mood concerns which may include persistent sadness, withdrawal, or difficulty functioning
• Behavioral concerns or disruptive behaviors which affect emotional regulation, interactions, or school functioning
• Trauma or stress related concerns including grief, difficult life events, or situations that impact mood, sleep, behavior, or wellbeing

Mental health conditions in youth often appear differently than in adults. Changes in mood, school performance, sleep, social interactions, or overall behavior may signal deeper concerns even if a child cannot fully describe how they feel.

How I Provide Support and Treatment

When you seek help for your child, we begin with a complete evaluation that explores developmental history, emotional and behavioral patterns, school and home environment, family relationships, and contributing factors. From there, I develop a plan tailored to your child’s needs. This may include:

• Behavioral support and referrals for therapy with strategies that fit your child’s age and development
• Medication management when appropriate for conditions such as ADHD, anxiety, depression, or mood concerns
• Support and education for parents or caregivers to help strengthen understanding and create a supportive home environment
• Guidance on routines, sleep hygiene, coping skills, structure, and wellness practices that support emotional health
• Regular follow up to monitor progress, adjust the plan when needed, and support long term improvement

My approach is compassionate, developmentally sensitive, and focused on treating the whole child rather than just addressing symptoms.

• I recognize that the needs of young people differ from adults and adjust treatment accordingly
